Exploring Stockholm

Exploring Stockholm

The Run

Up early. Three main reasons…

  1. for some reason, the weather is often better first thing in the morning (didn’t disappoint)
  2. Catching a sunrise is amazing, meaning the photos are usually better. (was pretty cloudy to start with, but meh)
  3. I clearly don't like myself very much 🤪 (this is true)

Anyways, I'm not sure starting the day with a 16k run was a good idea, although I did get to see loads. (The Run accounted for 17k out of the 37k steps by the time I got back)

Exploring some more of the city

Spent the rest of the day wondering through Stockholm. It's a right mixed bag. Not really sure what to make of it. This is roughly the route I took.

There's some really stunning bits, with lovely houses (clearly very affluent areas)… the red out buildings in the last set of photos, yeah, they were built for a prince, back in the early 1900s, as a garage for his two cars.

And there's lots of amazing buildings, the palace, museums, etc.

But there also A LOT of built up areas, which look like apartments… But honestly, considering the number, it only seems to be busy right in the centre of the city. Everywhere else is relatively quiet.

And it does feel safe here. I’m sure if you looked hard enough, you’d find some spicy areas, but everywhere I’ve been so far has been absolutely fine.

Anyways, grabbed some food and a couple of pints at some Taco bar.

I was warned before I came here that the prices would be sky high. But it’s like most cities, and ~£7 for a pint is kinda on par with London prices.

Time to plan the next leg

So, the plan for tomorrow is to travel up to Falun on the train, meet Jakub, stay at his overnight, work the next day and then head south on the journey home.

Main criteria is:

  • Needs to be fairly cheap
  • Must have WiFi - I could tether to my phone, but I’ve no idea what reception will be like
  • Would be good to have a key box so that I can be fairly flexible with when I arrive

But a search on Airbnb reveals that most of these places the choices are relatively limited (within my budget, anyway). Brilliant.

Ooo... Shiny Object

And then procrastination sets in. I wonder what's on in a city like Stockholm?!?

Didn't take long to find something...

World famous DJ... Playing in Stockholm tonight 😏

Do I go?... It doesn't start for another 3 or 4 hours, and I've already done nearly 40k steps, my feet are pretty battered. And it doesn't finish until 3am. I need to be up fairly early, packed and catching a train...

Lol. Silly question 😁
